...17-year-old soccer player Courtney Greer recently pressured the Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) into changing its rule which barred girls from playing on boys sports team unless no girls team existed. OFSAA feared a precedent-setting loss if Greer took her challenge to the Ontario Human Rights Tribunal. To hear Courtney discuss her case and what this change could mean, click here:

In the wake of OFSAA’s decision, the Ottawa-Carlton District School Board is reconsidering its rules. Eve Uwayesu, a grade 5 student whose request to play on her school’s boys basketball team was denied – even though the coach and the players agreed she would probably have been their best player – may have the opportunity to join the boys team next year as a result of the School Board’s reconsideration of its policies, thanks to Greer’s challenge.
